Privacy Policy

The short version
We collect only what's needed to run Settlr. We never sell your data. You can delete everything at any time. This policy applies globally.
1. What we collect
→ Account info: Name and email address when you sign up.
→ Expense data: Groups, expenses, and settlements you create.
→ Device info: Browser type and crash reports to fix bugs.
→ Currency & country: Set once at account creation for accurate splitting.
2. How we use it
→ To provide and improve the Settlr service.
→ To send verification and account emails.
→ To debug crashes and fix technical issues.
3. What we never do
✗ Sell your personal data to third parties.
✗ Show you ads or share data with advertisers.
✗ Access your expense data without a legitimate reason.
4. Indian Users (DPDPA 2023)
Settlr complies with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. As an Indian user you have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data. Your data is processed on servers operated by Google Firebase, which meets international security standards. To exercise your rights, contact support@settlr.co.in.
5. International Users (GDPR & Others)
For EU/EEA users, Settlr processes your data under GDPR. You have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. For California users, CCPA rights apply. For Canadian users, PIPEDA applies. Contact us at support@settlr.co.in to exercise any of these rights.
6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers (USA) with industry-standard encryption. Firebase is certified under ISO 27001, SOC 1/2/3, and complies with GDPR. We retain your data as long as your account is active. Upon deletion, all data is permanently removed.
7. Cookies
Settlr does not use tracking cookies. We use Firebase Auth tokens stored in localStorage only for authentication purposes.

The short version
Settlr helps you track and split expenses — we do not move or hold any money. Use it honestly, respect other users, and don't do anything illegal.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, accessing, or using Settlr, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What Settlr Is (and Isn't)
✓ Settlr IS
An expense tracking and splitting tool. We help you record who paid what and calculate who owes whom.
✗ Settlr is NOT
A bank, payment processor, or financial institution. Settlr does not hold, transfer, or process any real money.
3. User Responsibilities
→You must be at least 13 years old to use Settlr.
→You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
→You must not use Settlr to record fraudulent or illegal transactions.
→Keep your login credentials secure.
4. No Financial Liability
Settlr is a record-keeping tool only. We are not responsible for any financial disputes between users. All financial obligations are solely between the users involved.
5. Intellectual Property
All content, branding, design, and code within Settlr is owned by the Settlr team. You may not copy or redistribute any part without explicit written permission.
6. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your own account at any time from Profile → Delete Account.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Settlr and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Settlr is provided "as is" without warranty.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
